THE VENUE: Welcome to The Policy Think Shop @ www.PolicyABCs.Org
PolicyABCs is a web page that seeks to host and network various social media tools that will network public policy information sharing and knowledge building. It is a website maintained to provide a medium where “the public interest” can be better defined and supported.
THE MEDIUM: This blog is simply a social platform for sharing ideas through the written word. The focus is on social media tools that allow reasonable people to share and build on reasonable ideas that seek to address current public policy issues in ways that enlighten people who are interested in participating in the public policy discourse from an academic, practitioner or public interest advocacy perspective.
MODERATOR: I am the typist behind We SEE Reason–a twitter account that tweets concepts and words related to reasonable thinking about the world around us. I have been on the internet since 1995 and have enjoyed every moment of it. I have three decades of policy research, development and implementation experience and a Masters degree in Policy.
But this blog is not about me. It is about our ability to build policy insight through reasonable words–hence “WeSeeReason.” You can also share with us at: https://twitter.com/weseereason
HOW TO CONTACT US: I appreciate the value of this medium, which allows us to share our thoughts, opinions and insights within a topical conversation that can add to our collective understanding of issues that are troubling and/or interesting to the betterment of our communities. I am here to help promote and sustain such conversations and invite you to suggest topics for this blog and/or help in any way you see fit by emailing me at: email@example.com
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS BLOG: I have dedicated my online time to building this blog through a network of twitter, website and other resources which you will become familiar with as you come to this forum to share your thoughts, experience and insights on the topics we will choose together to discuss here.
This is a place where reason will guide us, concepts will help us to focus and engage rewarding conversations, and a constant flow of reason and words will sustain our relationship of sharing information and building knowledge to enlighten policy topics relevant to today’s public policy challenges.
The initial topics we can discuss are as follows:
American society has become more diverse and more divided. Recent close elections show this. Politically biased and increasingly ideological television networks also show this. What do you think?
Social media promises to change the way we elect our government officials, how products are marketed and sold and how social networking is carried out. If the ability to use social media requires a computer and access to the internet, what are the implications for politics? For commerce? and for social networking? Do you think social media is a boon or do you think it brings some new challenges that we should be aware of?
These our initial topics… Feel free to join in on either of these two topics.
As we exhaust these we will post some surveys that will allow us to choose future topics together through your input into the surveys.
Thanks for coming and commenting…
